Hundreds of thousands of supporters of Bangladesh’s largest Islamist party, Jamaat-e-Islami, rallied in Dhaka demanding electoral reforms and a fair election. The party presented a seven-point demand to the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus, including a proportional representation system and justice for past mass killings. Supporters camped overnight at Dhaka University and marched to Suhrawardy Udyan. Party leaders called for a corruption-free, Islamic governance system. Jamaat, once banned for siding with Pakistan in 1971, recently regained legal status. Former PM Hasina is in exile, and her Awami League party condemned the rally, calling it a betrayal of national sacrifice.
