Former NBA Star Gilbert Arenas Arrested for Hosting Illegal Poker Games

Former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, 43, was arrested along with five others for allegedly running an illegal high-stakes poker business at his Encino mansion in California between September 2021 and July 2022. Charged with conspiracy, illegal gambling, and lying to federal agents, Arenas faces up to five years in prison per count. The operation included paid staff, women serving drinks and offering companionship, and armed security. Co-defendant Yevgeni Gershman, linked to organized crime, was also arrested. Arenas, once a standout NBA player, had a career marred by a 2009 gun incident and suspension. He was drafted by the Warriors in 2001.
