Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed nearly ₹32 crore in seed capital to 31,910 women of SHGs under the Chief Minister’s Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan in Hojai. Each woman received ₹10,000 to support ventures like goat rearing, dairy, farming, poultry, handicrafts, piggery, and fisheries. Sarma said women’s empowerment is key to Assam’s prosperity, urging beneficiaries to use funds productively to qualify for further aid of ₹25,000 and ₹50,000. He announced extra LPG subsidies under Orunodoi and affordable rations from next year. The initiative, part of a ₹3,200 crore state mission, aims to foster self-reliant, women-led rural growth.
