OpenAI to Acquire Product Testing Startup Statsig, Names New CTO of Applications

OpenAI announced it will acquire product testing startup Statsig in an all-stock deal valued at $1.1 billion, based on OpenAI’s $300 billion valuation. As part of the move, Statsig CEO Vijaye Raji will become OpenAI’s tech chief of applications, leading product engineering for ChatGPT and Codex. The acquisition follows OpenAI’s earlier $6.5 billion purchase of Jony Ive’s io Products to develop AI hardware. Statsig, which builds tools for software developers to test and flag features, raised $100 million earlier this year. Post-acquisition, Statsig employees will join OpenAI but operate independently from their Seattle office.
