Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury reaffirmed the company’s 2025 delivery target of around 820 commercial aircraft despite ongoing engine production delays. The European manufacturer has been producing “gliders” — planes without engines — while awaiting deliveries from CFM International and Pratt & Whitney, attributing delays to quality issues and worker strikes. Airbus delivered 61 planes in August, totaling 434 for the year, outpacing U.S. rival Boeing. Faury emphasized confidence in engine suppliers meeting commitments and cited tariff relief under the U.S.-EU trade deal as beneficial. He expressed concern over global economic uncertainty affecting long-term planning and industry predictability.
