Assam SIT Probe Reveals Wider Conspiracy Involving Pakistani National: CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that a Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed on February 17, 2025, has uncovered a wider conspiracy involving Pakistani national Ali Tauqeer Sheikh. The probe revealed anti-India activities aimed at undermining national sovereignty and also established the role of a British national, reportedly married to an Indian MP, in Sheikh’s network. Sarma further claimed that Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior facilitated the visit of an Assam MP to their country. The SIT’s findings will be reviewed in detail and presented to the state cabinet, after which the information will be made public.
