Chandrapuram Ponnusami Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the 15th Vice President of India on Friday, with President Droupadi Murmu administering the oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan around 10 am. Aged 67, Radhakrishnan secured victory in the vice-presidential election held on September 9, defeating Opposition candidate B. Sudershan Reddy by 152 votes. He received 452 of the 752 valid votes cast, while Reddy garnered 300; 15 votes were declared invalid. A veteran leader of the RSS and BJP, Radhakrishnan’s elevation to the constitutional post reflects his longstanding political journey and significant support within the ruling establishment.
