Amazon is set to challenge Elon Musk’s Starlink with the launch of its first 27 Project Kuiper satellites next week. The company has secured 80 launch missions, each designed to deploy multiple satellites into low Earth orbit (LEO) to establish a global broadband network.
According to Amazon, its high-speed, low-latency internet services will begin rolling out by the end of this year. The KA-01 mission satellites (Kuiper Atlas 1) are scheduled to launch aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket on April 9.
Following successful deployments, Amazon plans to introduce Starlink-like consumer devices, expanding internet access to remote and underserved regions worldwide.
