Midnight Fire Engulfs Passenger Bus in Kokrajhar; 22 Travellers Rescued

Late on National Highway 27 near Patgaon in Kokrajhar, a Tezpur-bound passenger bus (AR-01-M-0924) caught fire around 12:40 am, likely due to a mechanical fault. The sudden blaze caused panic among passengers, but swift action by the Patgaon Police, led by Sub-Inspectors Amirul Hussain and Asim Roy, ensured the safe rescue of all 22 travellers. The Kokrajhar Fire and Emergency Services quickly brought the fire under control. Despite the bus being completely gutted, no casualties occurred. Local residents lauded the coordinated efforts of the police and fire teams, preventing a potential midnight tragedy.
