The Assam government has announced three days of state mourning, from September 20 to 22, following the death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg. The official statement described him as an eminent artist whose contributions to Assamese music, cinema, and culture were significant. During the mourning period, all official entertainment events, dinners, and ceremonial functions are cancelled, and Seva Saptah activities involving ceremonies or benefit distribution are postponed. Essential public service activities, such as health camps, Nikshay Mitra support for TB patients, and plantation drives, will continue. Zubeen Garg, 52, passed away in Singapore on Friday due to injuries sustained while scuba diving.
