Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the “GST Bachat Utsav” with Navratri, linking it to the rollout of second-generation GST reforms under Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. He said reduced GST slabs (mainly 5% and 18%), income tax relief up to ₹12 lakh, and simplified procedures will boost savings, ease business, attract investment, and empower MSMEs. Modi highlighted that combined tax exemptions will save citizens over ₹2.5 lakh crore, benefiting the poor, middle class, farmers, women, youth, and traders. He recalled India’s earlier complex tax system and emphasized that One Nation, One Tax is strengthening growth, self-reliance, and inclusive development.
