The BCCI will honor late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg with a special 40-minute tribute during the Women’s World Cup opening ceremony on September 30 at Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium. The program, confirmed by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, will celebrate Garg’s illustrious career as a musician, composer, actor, and cultural ambassador, highlighting his contributions to Indian music and culture over three decades. Known as the “heartbeat of Assam,” Garg recorded over 34,000 songs in 40+ languages. The tribute has been widely praised by fans and cultural organizations, uniting sports and music in a poignant commemoration.
