A day after four people were killed in Leh during protests demanding statehood and Sixth Schedule protections for Ladakh, Kargil remained calm on Thursday morning. Authorities reported no incidents of violence since Wednesday evening, though restrictions on gatherings of four or more people remain in effect. In solidarity with Leh and to protest the police firing, Kargil observed a complete shutdown. The administration has prohibited public assemblies in the area, while a significant deployment of police and paramilitary forces ensures law and order is maintained, keeping the situation under control amid heightened tensions.
