Gauhati University to Rename Performing Arts Centre in Honor of Zubeen Garg

Gauhati University has decided to honor late singer Zubeen Garg by renaming its Centre for Performing Arts and Culture after him. The university will also install his statue on campus and publish a coffee table book showcasing his life and creative journey. To further preserve his legacy, the varsity will introduce a new category titled ‘Zubeen’s Songs’ in its inter-college youth festival singing competition. The decision, announced on X, aims to pay tribute to the beloved cultural icon, who passed away by drowning in Singapore on September 19, and to inspire young artistes through his timeless musical contributions.
