Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman described India’s rise as a stabilising global force as “neither accidental nor transient,” noting that the absolute dominance once held by a hegemon, indirectly referencing the US, is now contested. Speaking at the Kautilya Economic Conclave, she highlighted how sanctions, tariffs, and decoupling strategies are testing old alliances and forming new coalitions, emphasizing India’s vulnerability and resilience. She stressed that domestic factors anchor India’s growth and achieving 8% GDP growth is crucial to becoming a developed nation by 2047. NK Singh underscored improving growth, capital output, and replicating Centre-state cooperation in broader governance.
