Manipur’s Churachandpur Sees Resumption of Postal Services After Two Years of Violence

Postal services have resumed in Manipur’s Churachandpur district for the first time since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023. On Friday, a mail van delivered letters, parcels, and other consignments to the district headquarters before returning to Imphal. Regular postal operations had been suspended for over two years, severely affecting communication for thousands of residents. The ethnic violence resulted in over 260 deaths and the displacement of thousands. Officials described the restoration of postal services as a significant step toward normalcy, helping reconnect Churachandpur with the rest of the state and providing essential communication services to the local population.
