SIT Records Statements of Zubeen Garg’s Wife and Sister in Ongoing Death Investigation

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing Assamese singer Zubeen Garg’s death recorded statements from his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, and sister, Palmee Borthakur, confirmed officer Moramee Das. Garg reportedly drowned in Singapore on September 19 while attending the North East India Festival. Following over 60 FIRs, Assam CID took over the probe, arresting festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma, and band members Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta, all remanded for 14 days. Evidence collection and witness statements continue. Additionally, Assam Governor has formed a One-Man Commission, led by Justice Soumitra Saikia, to investigate circumstances surrounding Garg’s death.
