On October 7, the Assam government launched Orunodoi 3.0, expanding its flagship women-centric financial aid scheme to over 38 lakh families. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called it Assam’s largest anti-poverty initiative, providing ₹1,250 per month to each beneficiary, including an additional ₹250 subsidy for LPG cylinders. Sarma highlighted the scheme’s role in helping thousands of households overcome poverty and promoting dignity, while promising a special surprise for beneficiaries in February. Alongside Orunodoi, the state continues to provide free rice, subsidised pulses and LPG, free education, girl child incentives, and healthcare under various welfare programs.
