Qualcomm has acquired Arduino, an Italian not-for-profit firm that develops hardware and software for robotics and electronic prototypes. The San Diego-based chipmaker, known for mobile phone processors, is expanding into connected vehicles, wireless devices, laptops, and industrial machines. Arduino, with over 33 million developers, will retain its brand, tools, and mission. Widely used by students and engineers, its platform supports chips from multiple providers. Qualcomm plans to launch an Arduino board powered by its Dragonwing chip for robotics, along with AppLab, a coding tool bridging programming for robots and advanced AI systems, enhancing real-time control and computational power.
