India and Australia discussed joint production of military hardware during Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s talks with his Australian counterpart Richard Marles in Canberra, aiming to expand bilateral strategic ties. Singh described the meeting as “productive,” reviewing defence cooperation across industry, cyber defence, maritime security, and regional challenges. Both sides reaffirmed the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, highlighting India’s rapidly growing defence industry and global credibility in defence technology. They explored deeper defence industry collaborations and shared commitments on countering cross-border terrorism and ensuring Indo-Pacific stability. Singh also met Australian PM Anthony Albanese, emphasizing strong, growing bilateral relations since upgrading to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2020.
