US President Donald Trump announced that Hamas and other groups will release 48 Israeli captives from Gaza on Monday, including 20 alive and the bodies of 28 dead, in exchange for about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners under a US-brokered ceasefire. Speaking at the White House, Trump called it a “big” step, though Hamas may face challenges locating all remains. He highlighted broad international support, including from the EU, Iran, and Russia, calling it “peace in the Middle East.”
