Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed that the rise in India’s Muslim population is due to large-scale infiltration, not fertility rates. Speaking at the ‘Narendra Mohan Memorial Lecture’ organized by Dainik Jagran, he cited population shifts from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, noting Hindu decline abroad and Muslim increase in India are linked to migration. Shah attributed population disparities across religions to infiltration since 1951, emphasizing his party’s “Detect, Delete, Deport” policy. He defended the Citizenship Amendment Act and Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, stating these aim to grant citizenship to refugees and ensure only Indian citizens vote, safeguarding democracy.
