A coroner’s inquiry into Zubeen Garg’s death is underway in Singapore, where he died of drowning during a yacht outing on September 19 while serving as a cultural ambassador for the North East India Festival. The inquiry, overseen by a judicial coroner, is a fact-finding exercise to determine how, when, and where he died. In Assam, a criminal case has led to seven arrests, including two of Garg’s personal security officers, following suspicions of irregular financial transactions. Garg’s wife stated she was unaware of these transactions. Singapore authorities continue investigating, with police reporting findings to the coroner under the Coroners Act.
