India has welcomed the US-backed Gaza ceasefire agreement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised President Donald Trump's sincere efforts to bring peace. In a call with Trump, Modi talked about the deal and bilateral trade. The Prime Minister also spoke about the Gaza situation with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Both leaders supported efforts to end the conflict and restore peace through dialogue. The ceasefire follows the release of the remaining hostages by Hamas and comes after an Israeli offensive launched in response to Hamas's October 2023 attack, which caused significant casualties on both sides.
