Apple Keeps TikTok on U.S. App Store After Trump Administration's 75-Day Ban Extension
Apple Inc. will continue to host TikTok and other ByteDance Ltd. apps on its U.S. App Store for at least another 75 days, following new assurances from the Trump administration.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Apple received a letter on Saturday from Attorney General Pam Bondi advising the company to comply with President Donald Trump’s latest executive order, which delays the enforcement of a TikTok ban in the United States. An Apple spokesperson declined to comment on the development.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump said, “The deal requires more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed, which is why I am signing an executive order to keep TikTok up and running for an additional 75 days.”
This marks the second time Apple has kept TikTok on its platform following Bondi’s intervention. In February, the app was restored to the App Store after Apple received a similar assurance tied to a previous executive order.
TikTok also remains available for download on Google Play, although Alphabet Inc. has not yet commented on its current status.
The latest extension comes amid efforts to finalize a deal that would create a U.S.-based version of TikTok, majority-owned by American investors. The proposed agreement had reportedly received ByteDance’s approval, but progress stalled after Trump imposed sweeping new tariffs, increasing the overall rate on Chinese imports to 54%.
