Meghalaya Chief Minister Denies Allegations of Illegal Uranium Mining in Garo Hills

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has denied claims of illegal uranium mining in Garo Hills made by BJP leader Bernard N. Marak. Sangma expressed that his administration has no proof of illegal mining and challenged Marak to present concrete information, vowing required action if any evidence is presented. The row was triggered by Marak's fact-finding report to the BJP's central leadership regarding uranium extraction and transportation in South Garo Hills. The Khasi Students' Union (KSU) has called for instant action by the government and complete openness on the issue, which has rung alarm in the state.
