After brutal clashes outside Baksa District Jail following the death of singer Zubeen Garg, his wife Garima Saikia Garg made an appeal for public calm. In a tearful Facebook message, she accepted the collective mourning but called for calm and harmony. The violence broke out when five accused in the case were shifted to the jail. Protesters seeking justice engaged in confrontation with police, resulting in stone-pelting, fires, and injuries to 21 individuals, including police personnel and media representatives. The authorities deployed more forces and put prohibitory orders in place in the area to manage the situation.
