Meta Reintroduces Local Job Listings on Facebook Marketplace Amid AI-Driven Layoffs

In answer to AI-fueled uncertainty in the job market, Meta is reviving local job postings on Facebook Marketplace in the U.S. The feature, available through a standalone "Jobs" tab, enables users over the age of 18 to discover entry-level and service industry work from local companies. Job hunters can sort postings by category, proximity, and type, apply directly, and message employers through Messenger. Listings will also be posted to pertinent Facebook Groups and business Pages. Though presently U.S.-exclusive, the shift seeks to make job searching easier by taking advantage of Facebook's social networks, providing a simplified alternative to conventional sites in light of increasing workplace automation anxiety.
