Centre Clears Adani Power’s Godda Plant Grid Link; Shares Jump 7%

The Centre has okayed Adani Power Limited's (APL) proposal to interlink its Godda Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant at Jharkhand, currently supplying just Bangladesh, to the grid of India using a Line-In Line-Out connection of the Kahalgaon–Maithon B line. The 25-year valid approval gives APL powers under Section 164 of the Electricity Act, akin to telegraph authority rights to lay lines. In the wake of Bangladesh's regime shift in 2024, India has modified several rules to facilitate this connection. The move provides APL with an opportunity to sell electricity at home when Bangladesh doesn't schedule supply, with regulatory and environmental approvals.
