At least 19 individuals have been arrested in Assam for allegedly expressing "pro-Pakistan" sentiments, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma calling them "traitors." Notable arrests include Jarif Ali in Barpeta, and Imran Hussain and Komar Uddin in Cachar. The crackdown followed the arrest of AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam. Sarma also revealed the identification of a Pakistani national residing in Tinsukia, married to a local, and awaiting guidance from the government on potential deportation. Additionally, a joint Assam Police-BSF operation in Dhubri led to the arrest and pushback of five Bangladeshi nationals. Security measures along the India-Bangladesh border have been intensified.
