Blinkit delivery workers in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, recently went on strike demanding better pay, working conditions, summer uniforms, and basic facilities like water and shaded rest areas. Around 150 workers protested low wages—citing reduced incentives—and called for a midday break and increased per-delivery rates. They allege Blinkit responded by blocking accounts and coercing workers to sign unclear agreements restricting future protests. Legal experts noted that gig workers lack formal strike rights, though forcing them into such agreements raises legal concerns. Workers claimed they were made to sign papers without official letterheads and record videos declaring compliance. Blinkit has not commented.
