Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced that six Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have invested ₹290 crore from a ₹550-crore startup fund, supporting 303 startups across India. Highlighting India's position as the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, Puri noted the nation now boasts over 1.5 lakh startups and 120 unicorns. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for empowering innovation. Additionally, the government has allocated ₹10,000 crore in the Union Budget 2025–26 for deeptech and AI development. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal reaffirmed the government's role as a facilitator for startups, emphasizing India’s growing global presence in AI and innovation.
