At least seven people were killed and six injured when a newly built wall at the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Simhachalam, Visakhapatnam collapsed early Tuesday after heavy rains. The incident occurred near a ticket counter crowded with devotees for the Akshaya Tritiya festival. Officials said some leaned on the wall, causing it to give way. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced ₹25 lakh ex-gratia for the deceased’s families and ₹3 lakh for the injured, along with jobs in temples. A three-member committee will probe the incident. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep sorrow and promised support for the injured.
