The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed Delhi Police to withdraw security for 19 former Ministers of State (MoS) who continued receiving protection after their tenure ended. This decision followed an audit by Delhi Police’s security unit. However, MHA extended BJP leader Smriti Irani’s security for six months. The list of former MoS who lost protection includes Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, Birender Singh, Devusinh Jesingbhai Chauhan, and others. Security cover is typically reviewed post-tenure, and Delhi Police's recommendations were sent to MHA. Certain judges’ security was retained, and reviews of some MoS were found overdue.
