Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that 11 five-star hotels, including Marriott and Taj properties, will be developed in Guwahati to enhance its hospitality and tourism sector. Two Marriotts near LGBI Airport and two Taj Hotels in Aerocity are among the key projects, along with a Lemon Tree Hotel and an expanded Radisson Blu. The Taj Vivanta at Khanapara will also be replaced. The project, involving 76 bighas of land, follows a deal with Junali Construction during the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit. These luxury hotels aim to attract tourists, support destination weddings, boost the local economy, and create jobs.
