The Sikkim unit of the BJP has strongly condemned a national English daily for publishing an India map excluding Sikkim in its May 13 edition, just days before the state’s 50th statehood anniversary. Calling it a "grave error" and "an affront to India’s sovereignty," the BJP emphasized Sikkim’s protected status under Article 371F. The party demanded a public apology and correction from the newspaper, urging the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to investigate. Highlighting that Sikkim’s people will not tolerate such disrespect, the BJP vowed to defend the state’s honour, especially ahead of its golden jubilee of joining India in 1975.
