Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Poornam Kumar Shaw, who was detained by Pakistan Rangers on April 23 after accidentally crossing the India-Pakistan border in Punjab’s Ferozepur district, was handed back to India on May 14 at the Attari Joint Check Post in Amritsar. Shaw was held in Pakistani custody for 21 days. The peaceful handover was achieved through ongoing communication and flag meetings between BSF and Pakistan Rangers. Shaw’s detention followed heightened border tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack. His family and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had appealed for his safe return.
