Vodafone Idea (Vi) launched its 5G services in Delhi NCR from May 15, expanding its phased rollout across India. Vi, partnering with Ericsson, uses a 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) network relying on existing 4G infrastructure for easier transition between 4G and 5G. The company introduces AI-based Self-Organising Network technology to enhance performance. Vi offers unlimited 5G data plans starting at Rs 299, supporting heavy data use like streaming and gaming. In Mumbai, 70% of 5G device users already use Vi’s 5G. This rollout is part of Vi’s ₹55,000 crore three-year investment plan, with further expansions planned in Bengaluru and Mysore.
