Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, highlighted that MSMEs will play a pivotal role in helping the IT sector achieve the ambitious $450 billion services export target in the upcoming financial year. Goyal emphasized the crucial contribution of the IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) sector to India’s economic growth. He noted that services sector exports totaled around $340 billion last year, with IT and ITES accounting for nearly $200 billion. This year, services exports are projected to reach between $380 billion and $385 billion, further strengthening India’s position on the global stage.
Speaking at the ‘Global Confluence 2025’ organised by Nasscom here, the minister highlighted the importance of innovation and adaptability in maintaining India's competitive edge. The minister also reaffirmed confidence in India’s IT sector and MSMEs as key drivers of the country’s economic transformation in the Amrit Kaal, working collectively towards a developed and prosperous Viksit Bharat. He praised Nasscom for fostering a culture of continuous learning, stating that the IT sector has consistently remained ahead of the curve by embracing new technologies such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
