Sipajhar Students Protest Against Changes in Scooty Scheme Eligibility Criteria

A group of students in Sipajhar protested against the recent revision of the Pragyan Bharati scheme’s eligibility criteria for scooty distribution. The new rule requires students to score at least 80% in their Higher Secondary exams to qualify, up from the previous 60%. Disappointed, the students demanded the state government restore the earlier eligibility norms. They appealed directly to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, chanting slogans such as “We want scooties” and “Restore the Pragyan Bharati scheme.” The protest highlights student dissatisfaction with the sudden stricter criteria, feeling unfairly excluded from the benefit.
