Assam Cabinet rolls out paid PSO scheme, mega concert plan and wage hike for tea garden workers

On May 21, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced key cabinet decisions including a paid Personal Security Officer (PSO) system charging Rs 75,000 for individuals feeling threatened. The government will boost the "Concert Economy" with major concerts in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, and Jorhat this December. Tea garden workers’ daily wages will rise to Rs 250 from October 1, 2025. A Rs 205 crore investment is planned for Numaligarh Refinery, and Rs 284 crore approved for a new Assam Legislative Assembly complex in Dibrugarh. Khanikar Stadium will be developed into the state’s largest with 35,000 capacity, and Rs 229 crore allocated for Lachit Barphukan Police Academy’s second phase.
