Tata Sons Ltd may need to infuse fresh capital into its struggling telecom unit, Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL), as AGR and related dues to the Indian government rise to ₹19,256 crore. With a negative net worth of ₹17,876 crore, TTSL lacks the means to meet its obligations. Despite issuing a support letter, Tata Sons faces pressure after the Supreme Court rejected telecom companies' pleas for AGR relief. The company had earlier opted for a telecom relief package. As of FY25, TTSL posted a ₹994 crore loss on ₹3,626 crore revenue, highlighting the ongoing financial stress in India’s telecom sector.
