The Delhi High Court has issued notices to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and BJP MP Parvesh Verma in response to a plea seeking re-election in his constituency.
The petition, filed by a rival candidate, alleges electoral malpractices and procedural lapses during the previous election. It seeks the court's intervention to declare the election results null and void and order a fresh poll.
Hearing the plea, the court directed both the Election Commission and Parvesh Verma to respond to the allegations. The bench also sought a detailed explanation from the ECI regarding the conduct of the election and the steps taken to ensure fairness.
The matter is expected to be heard further in the coming weeks as the court examines the petitioner's claims and the responses from the concerned parties.
