PM Modi: Northeast Is India’s Most Diverse Region, From Trade to Tourism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the inaugural Rising North East Summit in Delhi, praised the North East as India's most diverse region, spanning trade, tradition, textiles, and tourism. Highlighting its potential in national development, he emphasized the region’s strengths: bio-economy, bamboo, tea, petroleum, sports, skill development, ecotourism, organic products, and energy. Describing the North East as “Ashtalakshmi” – the embodiment of prosperity – he underscored the states’ readiness for investment and leadership. Modi’s remarks celebrated the cultural and economic richness of the region and positioned it as a critical driver of India's future growth.
