Influencer Sumi Borah Released After 8 Months in Jail Following Gauhati High Court Bail Order

Social media influencer Sumi Borah was released from Dibrugarh Central Jail on May 22 after spending eight months in judicial custody in connection with a high-profile multi-crore trading scam in Assam. Her release came after the Gauhati High Court granted her bail in the final pending case at Barbaruah Police Station, clearing her of custody in all related cases. The scam involved fraudulent trading schemes promising high returns, with Borah, her husband Tarkik Borah, and associate Bishal Phukan as prime accused. The court had earlier granted bail to Tarkik and Phukan on May 3, paving the way for Sumi’s release.
