Israel Intensifies Attacks on Gaza and Syria Amid Rising Casualties
Israeli forces continued their bombardment of Gaza, killing Hamas spokesman Abdel-Latif al-Qanoua and eight other Palestinians in predawn airstrikes.
The United Nations reports that Israel’s renewed offensive has displaced more than 142,000 people in the past week alone. Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry states that at least 50,183 Palestinians have been confirmed dead, with 113,828 wounded. Gaza’s Government Media Office estimates the overall death toll at more than 61,700, including thousands still missing under the rubble and presumed dead.
In Syria, Israeli forces launched multiple air raids in and around the port city of Latakia, according to Syrian media.
The ongoing war follows the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks, which killed at least 1,139 people in Israel and saw more than 200 taken captive.
