Akhil Gogoi extends support to Gaurav Gogoi, calls for unified opposition against BJP in 2026

Raijor Dal President Akhil Gogoi congratulated Gaurav Gogoi on becoming the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President and called for a united opposition to defeat BJP in 2026. He proposed a May 30 deadline for finalizing a Congress–Raijor Dal alliance. Responding to BJP's allegations about Gaurav's alleged Pakistan links, Gogoi demanded evidence and legal action if any truth exists. He criticized the arrest of youth leader Shankar Baruah and accused the BJP of harassing indigenous youths. Gogoi also slammed BJP's failure to deport illegal immigrants and dismissed their “pro-Pakistan” claims against Congress as politically motivated and baseless.
