Mumbai Police Arrest 17 Bangladeshi Nationals for Illegal Stay

Mumbai police have arrested 17 Bangladeshi nationals for residing illegally in India after they failed to provide valid citizenship documents. The arrests were made during a coordinated operation by the Shivajinagar and RCF police, following intelligence inputs regarding the presence of foreign nationals without legal documentation.

According to officials, the detained individuals were unable to furnish passports, visas, or any other valid proof of Indian citizenship. Preliminary investigations suggest that they may have entered India through unauthorized channels and had been residing in Mumbai for an extended period.

The police have registered cases under the Foreigners Act and the Passport Act, and further inquiries are underway to determine how they entered the country, their local connections, and whether any network was facilitating illegal immigration. Authorities are also verifying their employment details and whether they were involved in any unlawful activities.

Law enforcement agencies are intensifying efforts to track down and take action against individuals staying illegally in the country, emphasizing national security and legal compliance. The arrested individuals are currently in police custody, and further legal proceedings are expected.
