Assam’s Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Morigaon district saw a significant rise in tourist visits and revenue in the 2024–25 season, attracting nearly 35,000 visitors, including 650 international tourists, and generating Rs 62 lakh. Improved infrastructure, such as better internal roads, enhanced visitor experience. Meanwhile, conservation efforts in Udalguri focus on human-elephant conflict through a plantation drive by NGO Aaranyak, supported by SBI Foundation. The project aims to restore 100 hectares of degraded forest near the Indo-Bhutan border by planting 1 lakh native saplings to create elephant corridors and reduce conflicts, involving forest officials and local communities.
