IndiGo Airlines appointed Vikram Singh Mehta as its new chairman, succeeding Venkataramani Sumantran, who completed his five-year term. Sumantran, appointed in May 2022, guided the airline through strong recovery post-COVID. Mehta, a former IAS officer, has held key roles including chairman of Shell India and CEO positions in Egypt. He holds degrees in Mathematics from St Stephen’s College, and master’s degrees in Politics and Economics from Oxford and Energy Economics from Tufts University. Mehta has been a board member of InterGlobe Aviation, IndiGo’s parent company, since 2022.
